Okay, now... I am not trying to offend the single ladies out there (not that i think for one second that single ladies are a major part of our demographic), BUT I myself have many times fallen into the trap of "Anti-Valentines-Day"... Here's the problem with that, I don't know a single girl who doesn't like having someone do something nice for them. It doesn't have to be romantic per se, but if someone has gone out of their way to make you a card or buy you a flower and had you DIRECTLY IN MIND as the recipient of those items, it feels good to know that someone out there took time to think of you on international love day. Now, I believe the whole Anti-Valentines thing was started by people who just ASSUMED that they would not receive a gift or card on Feb 14th (I know that's why I did it), However, when you do something silly like claim to be boycotting Valentines or one step further, celebrating Anti-Valentines, Then if someone shows up with a gift/card/whatever for you, you have one of two options.
1) You can deny said gift/card that you REALLY REALLY REALLY want and stick to your guns... you said you were not celebrating Valentines and you meant it, Dammit!
2) You can accept this gift/card and look like a huge idiot to all your friends and co-workers you've been yapping at all week about how you hate this hallmark holiday. You won't be able to show off your loot and keep your pride at the same time and you will curse yourself for talking shit about Valentines.
Both of these things have happened to me. Neither one felt good at all. I have learned it is better to not publicly smack talk Love Day... Especially when I am one of those girls who sees the flower delivery guy and secretly wishes that those pretty roses are for her. <3 Happy Valentines Day :)
