I usually try to go flying on the weekends, especially when the icy grip of winter relents a bit and lets me preflight the plane without losing any extremities to frostbite.
Yesterday was a beautiful semi-spring day, so I took the plane up with some friends. We flew over Toronto for a bit, then headed west along lake Ontario to Hamilton, then southeast to Niagara Falls. I haven't done this flight before, so I was pretty excited. The airspace over the falls is restricted, and you have to know what you're doing to even be there. But I had studied CYR 518 extensively, and I had a printout in the plane. Turns out it was cake.
Now CYR 518 doesn't let you fly lower than 3500' MSL, but that was plenty low enough to get a great view of the falls and take some amazing pictures, the best of which I have uploaded to a MegaCyncis Flickr Set set. Enjoy! Expect to see come cool MegaCynics adventures in the future featuring the plane.
Ash and I have just learned that our humble webcomic was featured on Remember Webcomics run by Tim Maughan in the UK.
The review he posted is... well, a little overwhelming. As you can perhaps tell by the lack of any ads whatsoever on MegaCynics, Ash and I are mainly just trying to have some fun with this site, get to know each other by working on a webcomic together, and maybe -- just maybe -- eventually establish a long-term self-sustaining vehicle for Ash's burgeoning creative talent. (Okay, so that last goal is mine, but it's still a goal.)
We just launched in April. That our endeavor would be received so well so early in its life is humbling. Thank you, Tim, we will do our best to continue to entertain you, and to improve.
We're just about to start yet another story thread based on real life. This one is based on my sponsoring of (and subsequent appearance in) the upcoming Nuka Break Webseries. The first one launches in just a few hours. Stay tuned...
Steve's comments:
Perhaps you can sense a theme in our comics: many of them are based on real events. This is because real life is interesting. At least I find it to be.
Well, this comic continues this tradition.
A while back, my friend Chris Avellone (already featured several times in MegaCynics) tweeted about an indie fan film based on Fallout: New Vegas called Nuka Break. It's on YouTube and you can watch it right here.
The 15 minute short film got tremendous attention, and eventually the creators ran an IndieGogo project to raise funds for an actual websereies.
Long story short, I donated to the project, and was invited down to be a part of it. So of course I asked Ash to accompany me. What transpired next... is mostly top secret, until the first episode launches at PAX at the end of this month. But I can tell you that Ash and I had a ton of fun, made a bunch of new friends, and have definitely contributed to the project.
We'll blog about it here, as we are able to, and cover it in the comic as well. Because we love you.
